Philosophy
The philosophy of the Evan Bailyn Foundation can be expressed simply through 4 core principles.
- A child is a unique and special human being.
- Every child has the right to be respected, acknowledged, and loved.
- Children are at the mercy of parents, teachers, and other adults. But this position of power does not entitle adults to impress their beliefs on kids as if they were their projects. Rather, children's natural thoughts and beliefs should be understood and nurtured.
- When children are enabled to feel a genuine sense of self, they go on to make positive choices that in turn make the world a more enjoyable place to live.
Special Acknowledgement
Much of the inspiration behind the Evan Bailyn foundation comes from the wisdom of psychoanalyst Alice Miller (1923 – 2010). Ms. Miller wrote about the importance of children understanding their true selves and healing from difficult childhoods.
